Dee Majek’s involvement in the UK music industry stretches from as teenager securing exclusive promotional copies from American labels Casablanca Records,(Donna Summers, Cameo, Parliament and Giorgio Moroder), Cotillion Records (Luther Vandross) and Bang Records (Peabo Bryson), for Dee to source to taste making,UK club and radio Djs. To more recently, as the CEO of independent label Mapp Records, where Dee was responsible for launching the career of Chanel Perry, ‘My Life’  that was licensed to Hed kandi, Ministry of Sound.  Which spawned, top 40 national chart hits in the UK, France, and Scandinavia. Plus club hits ‘Dance’ and ‘If You Love Me’. Further success followed with the highly acclaimed R&B group, Metropolis classic debut album, ‘The Voyage’ that was licensed to Japanese label BMFN Records.

 

After a short hiatus in Central America, Dee, returns re-inspired to launch his new  label Virtuosity Education Centre (VEC) and solo project Kejam (pronounced KeyJam). A double-sided, slice of UK feel-good, jazz funk ‘Dystopia’ and ‘Radian’ from his forthcoming concept album ‘Dystopia’.

 

Dystopia concept is simple. It’s a musical  transition through  time and space .  To a summery place full of jazzy, soulful  grooves and positive vibes away from lifes every day pressure cooker .Take a listen to the punch-packing bass line of the title cut ‘Dystopia’. An electric piano-fuelled, funky anthem jam and its synthesized sidecar partner, on this ride ‘Radian’, a summer groove emulator that races along like vertigo on a Blackpool roller-coaster. You will instantly recognise that ‘Dystopia’  musical foundations embrace mid seventies and early eighties  Club UK. Paying homage to jazz stalwarts such as Ramsey Lewis, Roy Ayers, The Crusaders, Patrice Rushen, Rodney Franklin and Donald Byrd.

 

To ensure Dee, stays on track to realise his vision of a ‘jazz funk landscape’, Dee enlisted 2011, Coffee Talk Jazz Radio – International Songwriter Award Winner, James Colah, who has been featured in the prestigious ‘Keyboard Player Magazine’ and a major world artist, under the banner of ‘The James Colah Project ‘within Smooth Jazz (http://www.jamescolahproductions.com).
